Robert & Amber Leland
The Lelands
Bob and Amber served in Papua, Indonesia from 1971-2002: 8 years in church planting (Senggo); 2½ yrs. as house-parents at TEAM’s Hostel for missionary children at the International School in Sentani; 1½ yrs. as office administrator and bookkeeper in the TEAM Manokwari field office; and 19 years at the Erikson-Tritt Theological College in Sowi, near Manokwari. They also taught 9 months at the Asian Cross-Cultural Training Institute (Singapore) training Asian missionary candidates to live and minister cross-culturally.
While on Special Assignment status upon returning to the States (2002-2006), Bob translated a Greek Lexicon from English into Indonesian. Upon retiring, they remained in full-time ministry at their home church in Presque Isle. Bob has also been writing three books: The Saga of a Bent Nail, their ministry in verbal “snap shots”; Unexpected! Transformation (being changed into the image of Christ); and Gold Nuggets and Other Gems from the Mine of Scripture, (with answers to questions you may never have thought to ask!) They also teach extension courses from the Grace Evangelical Seminary and have seen one church planted through this ministry.
