Lucas & Jamie Orner

The Orners

Lucas and Jamie Orner have been serving in Krasnoyarsk, Russia with InterAct Ministries since 2009. Their ministry focuses on personal discipleship among the unreached people groups of Siberia (similar to the Native American peoples of the US). The Orners primarily work with the Tuvan and Buryat people groups, but also have a desire to train Russian believers to go to these hard-to-reach areas.

Tuvans and Buryats are traditionally nomadic people, many of whom were settled into towns during Soviet times. It is still common to see yurts and herds scattered throughout the landscape in these regions. Shamanism and Buddhism are the common religions, neither of which offer lasting hope. This hopelessness has led to the tragedy of alcoholism, domestic abuse and rape to be common problems among the people the Orners disciple.
